Break Me Down
You only seemed to love me
When I was weak and naïve
When you could break me down
And I didn’t know what to believe.
I gave you my soul;
I gave you my heart
And you took it all
But it was only a start.
Just break me down
And take all of me.
Leave me cold and alone
Stripped of my identity.
You took everything I had
Anything that I would allow
Never stopped to consider
Where that would leave me now.
With nothing left of me
Its time for you to move on.
And maybe I can heal
As long as your gone.
But you can’t stay away
From this mess you made.
And you break me down
Until the darkness doesn’t fade.
But I am no longer naïve
Nor am I weak and in need.
With nothing left to lose
I am a stone your trying to bleed.
Your words are like daggers
That don’t break my skin
I won’t let you hurt me
I won’t let you win.
You won’t break me down
I will save what’s left of my dignity
For myself, my pride and my joy,
I will reclaim my identity.

As Tupac sung..."Keep Yo' Head Up". Thoughtful line in "I am a stone you're trying to bleed". Nice.
