Silver Dragons

THIS IS JUST A SHORT IDEA I WROTE OUT TO GO IN ANOTHER STORY.  I WAS THINKING OF EXPANDING INTO IT STORY THOUGH. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

It all began when Horatious the Auld Bard came tramping through our kingdom.   He came to our castle and entertained the court with story and song.  After the evening meal the children gathered around the roaring fire in the Great Hearth, waiting breathlessly for him to light his pipe and begin a tale.

"In ancient times there were fierce dragons," he began.  "Dragon's with nasty tempers and aching insides.  It seems when first humans entered our kingdom, the dragons just naturally took to scrapping with them because they were getting downright bored fighting with each other.

"Yes sir, those were terrible times indeed.  The battles, the wars, the burning villages!  Then came one, a young girl, a princess.  Princess Carelin came and brought peace between dragons and humans.

"During her lessons one day, Princess Carelin studied Dragon Anatomy.    She was the first to realize that dragons had such sour dispositions because of ulcers!  The fire in their stomach's was eating them alive and they took their misery out on everyone.

"So Carelin went to the Court Alchemist and the Royal Magician and they searched and experimented until they found an ancient antidote to cure the dragons.  Finally on Midwinter's Day it was complete and they travelled to the great Dragon Lair atop Mount Mitoleas carrying many barrels of the Dragon Tonic.

"The dragons were rampaging in the south of the kingdom as they always did on Midwinters Day.  So Carelin and her companions bravely entered the Lair and in the midst was a gigantic bowl where the dragons all slept.

"The barrels of Tonic was poured into the bowl until a great silver lake was made.  The brave band then hid and watched for the return of the dragons.  Imagine the surprise of those poor, tired drangons, to return home after a hard days burning and find their bed a lake!  With a great roar the dragons zoomed down and splashed into the Tonic--

"--Only to find that it stopped the dreadful burning inside them!  They swallowed, they wallowed, they waded in the silvery liquid, and when they came out, behold, they were changed!   No longer suity and charred with smoke but shining silver creatures that no longer shot forth flames.  Instead a misty radience like liquid moonlight streamed from their breath!

"Feeling of love and kindness and wisdom overwhelmed to dragons and they sought out the humans, begging their forgiveness.  Great was the rejoicing, the celebrating, the dancing, and Cameline was pronounced the first Dragon Princess, or Dragon Saver."

Nice story. I'm working on a tween story myself. You should make more ideas about Carelin's backstory and her point of view on the dragons.

I think this would make a great story! I'm not sure how you were planning on doing it, but I suggest expanding the first part a lot, telling about the terrors of the dragons and such. Build up the suspense before she discovers the ulcers thing. I hope you do it, I'm excited to read more!

I think you could expand this into a wonderful story. Kids love dragon stories and I like the positive endings to your pieces.
