My Time

Beep, beep, alarm clock blaring,

The haze lifts, sleep is fading

Stretch, stretch, finally waking,

I roll out of bed, silently dressing

Tiptoe, tiptoe, past their room

Little eyes stay closed; it's quiet as a tomb

Open, open, freedom awaits me

The air is crisp and sweet as it can be

Walk, walk, getting in the groove,

Finally warming up, my body yearns to move

Jog, jog, heart is pumping,

Clearly, I am almost breaking

Run, run, so swift and free,

I savor the moment, as energy fills me

Slow, slow, I wind around.

Coming back, reality found

Softly, softly, back in the same,

A shower is surely calling my name

Turn, turn, the water running,

I enjoy a second of peaceful thinking

Wash, wash, I know its coming,

The bittersweet end of my day-dreaming

Honey! Mommy! Voices cry out

Suddenly, I remember what life is all about

Rinse, Rinse, grab the towel off the wall

Open the door and that was all.
