Sitting on the Edge of the World

I’m sitting here on the edge of the world,
Watching life flow serenely all around me.

I’m sitting here in the middle of it all,
Wondering what the falling rain has to say.

I’m sitting here under a fleeing storm,
Freeing my self of winter’s burdens.

I’m sitting here in a golden ray of sun,
Hoping that it will never fade or falter.

I’m sitting here on the banks of a mighty river,
Wanting to be carried somewhere far away.

I’m sitting here on the roots of a leafless tree,
Pondering intensely, the true nature of decay.

I’m sitting here at the water’s edge,
Giving thought to matters of my past.

I’m sitting here at the end of today,
Determining what tomorrow will bring.
