How It Felt

The seventies was the decade of free love and peace of mind,
A time of hippies, love ins, and psychedelic head trips.
They all said it felt good to do it.

The eighties was the age of excess and retro fashions,
A time of credit cards, sports cars, and cocaine czars.
They all said if it feels good do it.

The nineties was the era of apathy and wall street blues,
A time of social slumber, soccer moms, and sit-coms.
They all said it didn’t feel like anything.

The first ten of two thousand was the period of fear and loathing,
A time of depression, social networks, and multi-media.
They all said they didn’t want to do it.

The next ten years are starting off with a rise and fall,
It will be a time of power, anger, and control.
They will say they were forced to do it.
