QUESTION:  I feel unpatriotic because I drive a Toyota.  Is that wrong?

Absolutely.  Other than sacrifice your life pointlessly in military service the most patriotic thing you could do right now is to purchase Japanese goods.  While politicians might argue that you are harming our economy, rest assured that whatever damage you might cause pales in comparison to the damage that they create on an hourly basis.

Our country is losing money quicker than a Rudy Giuliani is losing republican votes.  We're doomed, only the politicians are trying to put a proud face on the issue.  Everybody else knows that it's only a matter of time before somebody else simply owns us.  Well… actually they already own us, they just haven't called in the debt yet.

You have to view this in a more global perspective.  Yes, you are directly supporting the economy of a foreign nation by detracting from our own.  But is that a bad thing?  In this case it is a choice between two evils.  Do you want to be an annex of communist China or the next Japanese step-child?  I don't know about you, but I know which I'd rather be.  Let's see… the Chinese control markets because they have so many people they can undercut everybody else's prices, might not be quality goods but they're cheap.  The Japanese give workers a couple of days off when they have a relationship break-off, they have good schools and a quality of living, and they produce high quality goods at a decent price.

Soooo…. Do you want your kids to work in a sweatshop or as a coffee boy at Sony?   I don't know about you, but I think my next vehicle will be a Prius (No, it's not Gay!  I just want to save some $$ on gas).  It's like an investment into the future of the country.   To make sure I cover all the bases though, I will be teaching my daughter Chinese and Japanese.  It'll come in handy sooner rather than later.

p.s. Go Patriots
