Counting On A Friend
I wonder who to trust sometimes
Just whom do I let in.
At first it seems like it will work
That's how they all begin.
But give it time, ain't it a crime
We're counting loss and win.
Who lost their temper, won the fight
Who struck the hardest blow?
Who said the thing that hurt the worst,
Who hit the lowest low?
And by and large no one's in charge:
Nobody wins, you know.
The cardinal rule of friendship
-This one thing is a must-
Faith that humans can be faithful
Though friendships may adjust.
People will change and rearrange
What shouldn't change is
Trust.
