Winter Season

tinsel and glitter and shining globes/
elven helpers and a glowing red nose/
the days are shorter, trees in the shade/
icy street lamps, warm chestnuts made/
call the family, bake up the pies/
tell the stories that people buy/
on Dasher and Dancer and Vixen and Steve/
for all the children who still believe/
wool mittens and puppies under the tree/
under the misteltoe, don’t miss me!/
And as this season shines warm then fades/
quick! call in the Christmas brigade!/
For mama’s sweet potatoes and Dad’s smoked ham/
for Aunt Jody’s cheddar rolls and grandmas plum jam/
for hours wasted in doors from the cold/
celebrate Christmas before the company gets old./
Before you look back and say “Remember when?”/
no, no, sweet darlin. Christmas’s here again./
