The Last Photograph

The Last Photograph

By Elton Camp

The baby bear was just too cute

A photograph to fail to shoot

“I’ll hold him by the scruff of his neck

Be sure the camera settings to check.”

“A chance like this may not come again.

A nature photo contest I’m sure to win.”

Thus, in posing well, so intent was he

That Rob, the mama bear didn’t see

The camera clicked and he heard a growl

Too late, he turned around with a howl

With her cub, Rob shouldn’t have messed

With protecting her baby she was possessed

She jumped on him with teeth and claws

And locked around his throat her jaws

Rob’s picture really did win first place

But awarded posthumously was the case
