The Good Reverend Has Spoken

The Good Reverend Has Spoken

By Elton Camp

The preacher scolds the church crowd

His voice is perpetually set on loud

With a tone of finality he does speak

About the wrath to come in a shriek

“This very day you will remember well

As you writhe and scream in fiery hell”

The way he goes on and on about it

That he’ll be glad, you can’t doubt it

This you well deserve,” he does remind

As, with great glee, his teeth does grind

Every Sunday, he sings the same song

Never thinking that he may be wrong

An eternity in fire to have to face

For a few years of sin is a disgrace

God says, “to dust” sinners will return

The reverend says in fire they’ll burn

To him, that horrid fate isn’t due

Rather, it’s waiting there for you

If you wonder if this dogma is so,

The Bible’s answer is clearly, “No!”
