State Penn Here They Come
State Penn Here They Come
By Elton Camp
The mess at Penn State may be hard to understand
But clearly, love of football got way out of hand
Too much emphasis on what’s really a child’s game
Has brought a major university to deepest shame
Coaches and football must be protected at all cost
Now the institution’s reputation may be forever lost
Because failure to report a coach’s most terrible crime
For at least ten years obviously occurred time after time
According to the disgraceful reports that we all now hear
Of football, university employees stood in quaking fear
That a lowly janitor kept quiet can be somewhat understood
But the silence of top university officials surely isn’t good
These folks should have immediately made the demand
“Coach, to your presence on campus there’s a total ban.”
Sadly, the honorable intentions of many this may well end
A lonely child, many good men now will fear to befriend
