Remember the Emperor’s New Clothes?
By Elton Camp
Recall the story from childhood?
If not, it’s high time that we should
The king, a new outfit commanded
And lavish praise for it demanded
His tailors agreed to a sneaky trick
A false story to which they’d stick
“The unworthy the clothes can’t see”
That they were fine, all then did agree
The emperor went on a procession as well
That he was actually nude, none would tell
Instead, lavish praise they heaped on him
“Your clothes are great with such fine trim”
When a small child the facts brought to light
Others then ridiculed and laughed with delight
On writing sites, we’re seeing a similar thing
From some, worthless writes do now spring
Not a lick of sense do some of them make
Others, an odious, obscene bent do take
Yet, some give reviews with lavish praise
Not a word of truth or protest do they raise
Of the little kid, I will now play the part
“Your writing is drivel, not poetry or art”
