A Bear In The Backyard
There’s a Bear in the Backyard
By Elton Camp
It’s outrage some folks will express
At seeing an animal at their address
Forgetting that it was there first
Its very presence is accursed
When animal habitat is destroyed
With nature’s balance we’ve toyed
Perhaps opportunities we’ve missed
With the native wildlife to coexist
Should I destroy every snake I see
Or, if not poison, just let it be?
What possible harm can I see
If a bird roosts up in my tree?
But, all said, it’s hard not to care
When into my yard walks a bear
