Awkward Setting
Awkward Setting
The man sits at the table Questioning his thoughts Finding weird the setting On one side is that one lady Someone who broke his heart and more About this often he’s fretting
So many words spoken Yet more promises broken She looks to him with more desire She doesn’t know what to say He is really quiet She wants him to revisit the fire
Yet, he is shocked again and motionless Wondering what to do next And unsure the direction to go “She had her chance,” his heart remembers Could have had it all That chance she did blow He doesn’t make a move Just waits for her decision And wonders if it’s a mistake Now, he heads home alone Filled with memories and jitters And revisited feelings begin to bake
Why couldn’t that year have been better With filled promises, joy And the cuddles and great kisses good? Confusion and a burning heart set in Unsure of some choices made With few who truly understood
Awkward is an understatement The setting brings him chills Unable to be really free Yet, the man loves those smiles He loves the thought of potential And the unknown future to be

If you dwell on the past, you tarnish today and ignore the future! (unknown)

Synopsis
One of my favorite pieces thus far... this piece took me into a different poetry writing format... not just the ABCB rhyming style that I seem to prefer!
