TO BE
To be or not to be,
What's that mean to you and me?
Is this the measure of how we perform,
To decide if we do or don't conform?
For life is filled with many ways,
To explore them all take too many days.
So we conform or don't as we chose,
Then wait and see if we win or lose.
Many don't stop or even pause,
To look at someone else's cause.
At time we judge them quite a bit,
Then later have to make up for it.
A cause, a plan that's all we need,
To keep us growing in word and deed.
We try to figure just what the norm is,
But one way or another we're all non-conformist.
Today a plan, tomorrow a rule,
Then we try so hard to fool,
ourselves by saying, "That's not for me."
"That rule is for someone else you see."
And so we move from side to side,
We're in and out like the tide.
It's seldom that we try to find,
The time to look for peace of mind.
It seems the fate of the human race,
To get caught up in life's fast pace.
Rush here, rush there,
Worry later if this was fair.
And everyday from when we're born
We either do or don't conform.
For what makes unique you see,
The decision to be or not to be.
