Physical abuse delivered by those she believed she loved and who loved her

Black Eyes

Split Lips

Betrayed by those who promised to never bring her hurt or harm – friends, family, lovers

Baseball Bats

To the stomach

Sexual abuses she’s kept hidden and secret, praying she can one day forget

Stab Wounds

To the chest

Abandonment by partners; being left to raise the children alone. To feed, clothe, house, educate and protect any way possible

Gun Shots

To the back

Making ends meet with jobs where the work required far exceeds the pay given

Golf Clubs

To the knees

Yet, she stands before you with flawless skin and a smile forever burned into your memory

You call her mom, sister or aunt

You might even call her friend, girlfriend or wife

But, you don’t see the scars she wears

Old wounds that have shaped her into the person she is today

She’s not bitching……she’s venting her pain

She’s not fussing……she’s fighting to be heard

She’s not nagging……she’s crying out for help

She is a black beautiful strong sister

Who’s been battered but still standing

She’s one of the most resilient creatures known to man

And she deserves your love and respect

Powerful told and I hate to say, so truthful. Men should be ashamed of themselves when they do these things to women. This is a writing that all men should take to heart. I think you should send this to domestic violence shelters and organizations. Well done!
