Thought Streaming #6 (2011)

My friend,

I have a fear,

As sneaking suspicion...

That the cat may be a metaphor,

For everything you and me.

You say you hate the cat,

And you think he's fat,

-Or at least too pudgy.

You think the cat has poor hygiene,

You think he stinks,

And that he looks like he's always greasy.

You say you hate the way,

The apartment feels with him in it.

You say you hate my cat,

Does this mean you feel this way about me too?

And you say the cat loves you,

Because he can never have you.

-Well I love you,

And I can't have you either...

"Kitty lovin'..."

We call your mauling of the cat "rape."

You say you love his cries of "pain,"

And though you couldn't hear it,

I've cried because of you too...

At the end of it all,

I love the cat,

Just like I love you,

At the end of it all,

I might be just a little bit jealous of the cat,

Because at the end of the day,

I just want your lips and mine,

Your arms around me;

Hold me like you hold the cat...

At the end of it all,

I just want to hold you down,

And plant kisses all over your face,

Like you do to the cat.
