Reminiscence

Sitting in the sand

As the waves roll over me

I am reminded of

Those times

Simpler times

Before crushes

Before dressing up

Where family was a four-letter word

Instead of a contract between acquaintances.

Things felt happier then

Maybe it was real

And love just ages like bread

Or maybe I was just living a white lie

And I’m finally awake.

I miss those times

Before age limited us

Before money separated us.

Family holidays

Family road trips

Hours on end listening to the same playlist

But never getting bored.

Take me back

Before I grew up

And we grew apart.
