Purgatory
All my life
Was spent with the devil
Every day
All day
All the time.
Sometimes nasty
Sometimes nice
But I knew she was the devil;
That’s what the angel said.
The angel showed me her horns
Her arrowed tail
And showed me his glowing halo
His soft, white wings.
That was my binary life.
But now,
Now I’m older.
Now my eyes can see
With the clarity of my own wisdom.
The angel does demonic deeds
And the devil is retired.
Their masks crumble away
Leaving me, the human, to wonder
Who exactly was the evil one here?
