Paradox
It’s funny,
People expect us to grow up
To be outspoken, outgoing
Speaking our minds
And expressing our feelings
When all they’ve done
Is tell us
Sit down
Shut up
The adults are talking.
We are told to question authority
While being taught to follow the rules blindly.
They say our ideas are the future
But our thoughts are
Patronised
Diminished
Shot in cold blood.
They want us to wake up
While tucking us into bed.
Who knows what will happen
Once this silent generation is allowed to speak.
