LONGING FOR YOU
I'm lying in the bed we shared together
My eyes fall on the pillow by my side
Thoughts rush in, and my mind creates a picture
Of the last time we made love here, you and I

My heart beats the lovers concerto
My eyes yearn for just one glimpse of you
My hands tremble from the thoughts of loving memories
My body craves your touch, and the love we once knew

I try to sleep, but need to feel you beside me
I call your name, even knowing you're not there
I dread the night, because I lay here and think of you
I stare at your wedding rings lying there on the night stand

Too many days have passed since you left me
I should be happy, for now I'm on my own
I can go, and do, whatever I want to
Instead, I just wait here hoping to hear the phone

This is so heart breaking to read, yet filled with a heart that is driven by such deep love. I read this piece and felt myself holding on to every word because of the honesty and raw openess of the work. I thoroughly enjoyed this write. Thanks for sharing.
