To my unborn child
I promise now, that when you're here, We both will love you, oh so dear. Never will you have to fear A lack of love, we'll always cheer You if you're feeling glum Or if you've fallen on your bum. And though we'll do our very best Not to spoil you, you'll be blest With everything that you could need To water any little seed Of talent, or of inspiration; Your mind can indulge itself in liberation (Though your body won't be out too late On social outings, or on dates Until you're of an age to be Selective with integrity). You'll never want for help with work From school - and we won't let you shirk, But give you all that we once had And more besides, for we'll be glad If you can be just what you choose. You'll never, our affection, lose.
