Bond

I am fourteen miles away

But the morning feels a decade ago

And it will be tomorrow before

I can hold you again.

My mind struggles to conjure

The memory to fool my arms

Into thinking that they hold you

Close.

Sometimes my love for you weighs

So heavy.

I fear it could implode and crush us

Both.

Oh, I'll never live a life that's separate

from you.

Like Lyra's soul

Your distance distresses,

Suppresses my delight

In solitary pleasures,

Pantalaimon.

And you may never know,

May never know,

Never know

This longing and love

In me.
