Feeding Feelings

Have you ever taken a bite
Of something that tastes so good
That you give into trying and give up the fight
To watching your calories as you should

I know how that feels to give into greed
When all you really want is to feel
You push caution away cause you think you need
To taste something that seems to be real

At one point in time I tipped the scale
Way past what two people weigh in at
You feel bloated and weak and look like a whale
Because your feelings got you so fat

I tell you this story, I have pictures for proof
That all of these years I have wasted
Search deep in your heart to find the truth
Because your feelings don't need to be tasted

They say food is meant only for fuel
I hear all what they are saying
But until you locate the right working tool
You feel hopeless at what you are weighing

I pray daily for help to come my way
I don't want to hurt like I do
But tomorrow will be yet another day
Where hopefully I'll find my way through

Polly..., it takes a great deal of courage to say what you've said and put yourself out there. Be strong because you do have those of us willing to support you as you work through this. You CAN do this.

Well done. I like your honesty in this poem for I can tell it came from the heart. And the style you wrote this in. Good job for a first time post on here.
