2010 Quatrain City Poetry Contest Grand Prize Winners

Seventeen individual Quatrain City Poetry Contests were held from the end of March through November. Each Contest resulted in a winner and runner-up, both of which qualified for Grand Prize judging. These are the results:

Grand Prize:

"The Church of Adolescence" by Anthea Burson

First Runner-Up

"Myth of Life" by Ayoub Bangroo

Second Runners-Up (tie)

"Criss-Crossed" by Pushpa Moorjani
"Silent Cannons" by Diane Tegarden

Congratulations to all the winners, and especially to Anthea, who was the top choice of two of the three judges.  You can see the winning quatrains, along with the accompanying photos, at http://www.jackhuber.com/quatraincity.htm.

The 5-4-7 Arts Center in Greensburg, built to high "green" standards after the devastating tornado nearly destroyed the town in 2007, has begun selling my latest book. The title poem, "A Splendid Alternative," was written about Greensburg's admirable rebuilding efforts. I have decided to donate all profits from sales of "Splendid" to the Arts Center and is recommending that fans also consider donations.

The Arts Center building is the first "LEED Platinum" building in Kansas. For more information, go to http://www.547artscenter.org/.

Also in Greensburg, the well-known "Big Well" attraction is now selling all three of my books in its gift shop. Currently, all profits from sales of these books will also be donated to the Arts Center.

The Staff Picks, June 2009, for GotPoetry.com includes me as its Critic of the Month. The announcement explains, "[Jack's] expertise in form and knowledge of meter in poetry is worth mentioning. His critiques are always encouraging and helps the poet to improve further."

The complete Staff Picks are at: http://www.gotpoetry.com/News/article/sid=38370.html.
