I love reading historical biographies, but I do love reading fiction by Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy, and Sarah Dunnant among others. I love writers who evoke the senses and create a beautiful, if desolate, at times, world around me.
I love poetry (obviously)- and have a very soft spot for John Donne.

Music and Lyricists

I love music and have a wide range in taste. Tori Amos has been a hero of mine for years and I also have great respect for Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy. I love both the melodies and the lyrics of these artists. When I was little, I loved songs that told a story - and that has stayed with me. Brought up on Bread, The Beatles, Elkie Brookes and Brenda Lee - I still go for artists who write with a strong narrative element.
